Kramat Jati Sub-district Health Center, East Jakarta held door-to-door vaccination service for students with special needs at Dwituna Rawinala Education Foundation on Jl. Inerbang, Batu Ampar, Friday (7/30).

On average, it takes three to five minutes to vaccinate one students

Rawinala Double Extraordinary School (SLBG) Principal, Budi Prasojo conveyed, vaccination was carried out with extra patience because it served people with multiple disabilities. Therefore, only several people who understand the character of each student with disabilities can provide assistance.

According to him, students who need extra care must be accompanied by more than one person. Even, there are some students who must be invited to play first thus they can be comfortable. Once they are comfortable, they can be injected with the vaccine.

"It needs special assistance. On average, it takes three to five minutes to vaccinate one students," he mentioned.

According to him, total 48 students with disabilities had been vaccinated today. As many as 20 students from Rawinala, 20 students from SLB Frober Montesori, 2 students from SLB Pelita Hati in Kampung Dukuh and 6 students from Rehabilitasi Bersumber Daya Masyarakat (RBM) or Community Based Rehabilitation.

"On average they have multiple disabilities. For example, there are students who are deaf, intellectually impaired, and use wheelchair. There are also students who are blind and deaf," he said.

Kramat Jati Health center Head, Inda Mutiara added, her side deployed 10 health workers from urban village health center and admin staff from Rawinala Education Foundation with assistance from health center to carry out vaccination service at Rawinala.

Apart from students with special needs in Rawinala, there were also 50 students from SMPN 126 who were also vaccinated in the location.

According to her, this vaccination service was held through cooperation with Rawinala Foundation in order to fulfill children's right to be healthy. She hopes children with disability will not be exposed to COVID-19.

"We plan to carry out second dose vaccination at Rawinala after 28 days," she stated.

Meanwhile, Kramat Jati Sub-district Head, Eka Darmawan mentioned, this door-to-door vaccination service for people with disabilities has been done in accordance with Jakarta Secretary's instruction.

"According to instruction from Jakarta Secretary, people with disabilities must be vaccinated to accelerate vaccination program to reach the target soon. Therefore, we carry out door-to-door service through collaboration with Rawinala Education Foundation," he closed.
